Nature is Woke

Nature is Woke

A few weeks ago, I was walking in the woods with my dog. It was the best kind of walk, the one in which you are the only one around. (My normal walking spot is typically mobbed with people riding their bikes on the trails. I’ve almost been run over quite a few times, not exactly a zen experience dodging mountain bikes, ya know?)

So having a quiet, introspective walk in nature was certainly peaceful. I listened to branches blowing in the wind. I felt the crisp air on my cheeks. I walked along the trails, humming to myself. I found myself greeting the bright green moss and the buds beginning to form on the trees.

I heard myself say out loud, “Wow, I just love how nature is waking up.”

Immediately I felt an energetic slap and distinctly heard in my head, “We aren’t waking up, nature is always awake. Humans are the ones in need of waking.”

I just got told!

Nature is wise and woke! I’m just a silly human. One can learn so much from the unfurling of a leaf, from the flowing of a stream.
